Vishnu Ramchandra Karkare

Date of birth around (Approximately) 1910, orphaned as a child he was brought up in the Northcote Orphanage in Bombay. He started a teashop in a shed in Ahmednagar and later converted it into a boarding and lodging house. Karkare started the local branch of the Hindu Mahasabha in Ahmednagar. Karkare procured arms for the Mahasabha. He joined Apte and Nathuram in their campaign against Gandhi. Karkare was the armourer of the gang. Through his contacts he procured arms and explosives for the gang. Karkare was instrumental in recruiting Madanlal Pahwa to the gang. Karkare was sentenced to life imprisonment plus 17 years.
